Why a Passphrase Matters
Some wallets let you add a passphrase on top of your seed phrase. This optional 13th or 25th word acts as a second layer of protection. Even if someone steals your seed, they still need the passphrase.
What Makes a Strong Passphrase?
- Length: Use at least 20 characters or 4+ unrelated words.
- Unpredictability: Avoid quotes, birthdays, or predictable phrases.
- Non-dictionary combinations: Combine multiple languages or personal codes.
How to Store It
Never store your passphrase digitally or online. Write it down securely and treat it with the same care as your seed phrase.
Security Tip
If you lose your passphrase, your funds are gone—even with the seed phrase. Be smart, but also be safe.
