Bitcoin and Travel Rewards: The New Loyalty Frontier
Bitcoin is increasingly showing up in the travel sector – not just as a means of payment, but also in loyalty programmes. Travellers can collect bitcoin when booking or use it to pay for hotels and flights.
Travala: bitcoin cashback on bookings
The crypto travel platform Travala.com accepts bitcoin for flights, hotels and activities. Since March 2024, members of the highest loyalty tier can receive up to 10 percent cashback in bitcoin. The conditions are strict, however: this tier requires a special NFT, of which only 1,000 exist, as well as staked AVA tokens.
Gift cards for hotels and airlines
Via services such as Bitrefill, travellers can buy gift cards for hotel portals and airlines with bitcoin. These can then be used like normal credit at the provider. Depending on the provider, bookings made this way also count towards its own loyalty programme.
Credit cards with bitcoin rewards
Credit cards that pay out a percentage of every purchase in bitcoin are also suitable for travel bookings. Fold, for example, announced a Visa credit card in 2025 with 1.5 to 2 percent back in bitcoin.

- Check the conditions carefully: the highest rewards often require tokens, NFTs or subscriptions.
- The value of bitcoin rewards fluctuates with the price.
- Compare prices – a reward is worthless if the booking itself is more expensive than elsewhere.
